Employers must deduct PAYE (Pay As You Earn), UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund), and SDL (Skills Development Levy) where applicable, and submit them to SARS.

2. How does PAYE (Pay As You Earn) work in South Africa?

Employers deduct PAYE from employees’ salaries based on tax tables and submit it monthly via the EMP201 return to SARS. An annual reconciliation is required.
